Early Life and Background

Iga Świątek was born on 31 May 2001 in Warsaw, Poland. She comes from a sporting family - her father Tomasz was an Olympic rower who competed at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Iga began playing tennis at a young age, inspired by her older sister Agata who also played the sport. Growing up in a sports-oriented household laid the foundation for Iga's future success in tennis.

Junior Career

As a junior player, Świątek showed immense promise. In 2018, she won the Wimbledon girls' singles title and claimed doubles gold at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires. These early achievements hinted at her potential to become a top player on the professional tour.
