Early Life and Education
Prince Henry Charles Albert David, commonly known as Prince Harry, was born on 15 September 1984 in London. He is the younger son of King Charles III and Diana, Princess of Wales. Harry grew up in the public eye alongside his older brother, Prince William. He attended Wetherby School, Ludgrove School, and Eton College, following the educational path typical for young royals.
Military Career and Humanitarian Work
After completing his education, Harry took a gap year, working on a cattle station in Australia and volunteering in Lesotho. In 2005, he entered the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, launching a decade-long military career. Harry served two tours in Afghanistan, rising to the rank of Captain.
Harry's humanitarian efforts have been significant. In 2006, he co-founded Sentebale, a charity supporting children affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana. He has also been a vocal advocate for mental health awareness, co-founding the Heads Together campaign with his brother and sister-in-law in 2016.
Marriage and Family
In 2016, Harry began dating American actress Meghan Markle. Their relationship quickly became the subject of intense media scrutiny. The couple announced their engagement in November 2017 and married on 19 May 2018 at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. Upon marriage, they became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Harry and Meghan have two children: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, born on 6 May 2019, and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, born on 4 June 2021.
Stepping Back from Royal Duties
In January 2020, Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back as senior members of the royal family. This move, dubbed "Megxit" by the press, involved giving up their HRH titles and public funding.
